Key Concept: Moon, Scimitar, Cultural, Nomadic
The design of the Rock Art and Nomadic Cultural Center tries to deliver the rich historical resource to the modern society of the state. The shape and its architectural complexity is the strong characteristic and significance of the building.
MOON SWORD (Scimitar): This was the main weapon for Mongolian warrior and it was recorded in history that the Mongolians conquered the world twice with the power of scimitar. According to history, the warriors created the sword inspired by the moon. Due to its distinctive backward curve, it requires less forces and has a distinct feature of complete slicing with all blades of the sword.
Due to its distinctive backward curve can become a recognizable shape in the landscape but, at the same time, embedded in the natural beauty can be horizontally integrated in these surroundings, just a line of shadow at light day and illuminated by night. This solution allows a balance between significance, identity, and respect for landscape. Besides this, placing a single building including all the program will be a better efficient climatic settling.
The project site is around 6.53 km away from the city center and in front of Yamaat Mountain. The site has magnificent view toward Buyant River and Khovd City. The building has 2-3 storeys and the ground floor is half embedded to the ground. On the ground floor, we plan to have Temporary Space, Information center for visitors, tourists, Coffee and Souvenir Shop, Restaurant and cafes and Temporary Gallery area for any events. On the second floor, main exhibition area is located and core space is focused on Digital Museum, some other exhibition area. On the third floor, there is a work shop room for visitors.
